GALATIANS: a “What Were You Thinking” Letter

“Paul writes a ‘what were you thinking’ letter to the churches in Galatia. False teachers have followed Paul, telling the young churches that Paul’s gospel is incomplete. His adversaries want to make Jews of Gentile converts before they can become Christians. Paul…insists that his gospel is straight from Jesus Christ; that it has been affirmed by the Jewish Christian leaders in Jerusalem and that to believe any other gospel is to buy into false doctrine that eliminates Christ from their lives.” (more…)

Surprised by Hope

For those who have been Christians most of their lives, there seems to be nothing new in the scriptures. However, as there are twists and turns in life events, so there are unexpected moments of hope. Take our congregation for instance. We have several changes that may come as a surprise to you. Chris Wertman has led the choir and this congregation in song for twenty six years. I have enjoyed exploring our new hymnal and planning the music for the past two years. However, it is time for her and Don to enjoy retirement and freedom to travel. (more…)

SERRV, The Year in Review

The SERRV shop was very successful in 2014 and the committee thanks everyone who supported this mission project of our church. Outside the church sales were also responsible for our success. Many dedicated volunteers managed and staffed the shop. Many of you in the congregation made purchases which gave to the artisans and fair trade producers a fair wage and ability to support their families in many developing countries. This helps them lift themselves out of poverty, develops business skills and improves their communities and environment. We hope you will continue to give us help and support in the new year.

On JANUARY 25 we will ask you to put $1.00 in the soup pot as you leave worship. The money will be donated to the Community Lunch Program and the Food Pantry.
Last year over 3.5 million dollars was raised in the United States. So PLEASE help us, help those less fortunate. Thanks.

Deacons December Activities

During our December meeting we filled big goodie bags with fruit, candy, homemade cookies and brownies, and a poinsettia plant for our home bound and shut-in members and friends. Our youth made ornaments that made lovely additions to these gift bags! Thanks to everyone for the special treats.
