TED Talk with Pastor Colin

You are invited to TED Talks with Pastor Colin.

If you are not familiar with TED Conferences/Talks, they are gatherings of creators, thinkers, artists, medical professionals, scientists, sociologists etc. who share “ideas worth spreading”. These talks are 10-20 min long and are collected in video form for all the world to see. We have curated 6 wonderful talks that inform, intrigue, and begin great conversations.

Please join these adult education opportunities hosted by Pastor Colin. You can come to any one or all of them. Each session will include watching the video talk together and engaging in conversation guided by Pastor Colin. Each session will be one hour long and there is no need to prepare in advance. Just come with an open heart and willing spirit.

The TED Talks will be offered every other Thursday evening at 7:00 beginning April 15.  You can sign up for this opportunity by contacting the church office at 315-789-1343 or email us at info@pcgny.org

April 15:  Brene Brown “The Power of Vulnerability”

April 29:  Lesley Hazleton “The Doubt Essential to Faith”

May 13:  Karen Armstrong “Let’s Revive the Golden Rule”

May 27:  Hass and Hahn “How painting can transform communities”

June 10:  Kate Bowler “Everything Happens for a Reason and Other Lies I’ve Loved”

An Adult Lenten Study

Seeing Ourselves in Those Confronted by Jesus: An Adult Lenten Study

Sermon on the Mount: A Beginners Guide to the Kingdom of Heaven

Sermon on the Mount Graphic
Sermon on the Mount: A Beginners Guide to the Kingdom of Heaven by Amy-Jill Levine will be the focus of the next series in Adult Forum.

“Amy-Jill Levine’s book is an essential guide to Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount. Levine invites us to hear the Jewishness of Jesus’s words, understand them in light of the world to which he spoke them, that we might better understand how these words speak to us today. This is a terrific book!” Adam Hamilton

“Levine has a rare talent for blending scholarship with human experience and seasoning the mix with her own peppery brand of good humor.” Barbara Brown Taylor.

We will discuss one chapter each week over the course of 7 – 8 weeks. Books are available in the church office. There is also one audio copy on CD available.

Adult Forum continues to meet each Sunday morning from 9:15 to 10:15 by Zoom. Look for the Zoom information at the bottom of your invitation to worship email each week. All are welcome!

Beginning January 10th
